Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce

Thank You For a Welcoming Street Fair Festival

With forecasts hinting at rain and overcast skies lingering through the morning, the mood in Yellow Springs might have been uncertain, but the community’s spirit was anything but. Against the odds, the June 2025 Yellow Springs Street Fair unfolded in spectacular fashion, showcasing everything locals and visitors alike have come to love about this iconic event.

The semi-annual Street Fair brought together thousands of attendees for a full day of handcrafted shopping, flavorful food, live entertainment, and joyful connection. By midday, any concerns about the weather had faded into the background as the streets buzzed with energy, laughter, and creativity.

A highlight of this year’s summer fair was the visible increase in vendor diversity and artistic representation. The Chamber’s strategic move to reduce craft vendor fees proved to be a catalyst for broader participation among local and regional makers.

“Our decision to reduce craft vendor fees this year truly paid off, as we achieved our goal of attracting a broader and more diverse selection of handcrafted goods to the fair,” said Melissa Herzog, Events Coordinator for the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce. “This initiative allowed us to provide even greater support to local and regional artists, craft makers, and small businesses.

Vendors lined downtown with everything from handmade jewelry and woodcrafts to home goods, wearable art, and one-of-a-kind finds. Each booth added something special to the already colorful character of Yellow Springs, blending seamlessly with the village’s beloved shops, cafés, and galleries.

Beyond the marketplace, the Street Fair created space for meaningful collaboration. Local non-profits, musicians, and businesses were active participants, especially within The Backyard Beats & Brews Fest featuring Yellow Springs Brewery, and on the Community Stage, which brought local music, rhythm, and community voices to the forefront of the event.

Volunteers also played a key role in the fair’s success. From assisting with vendor load-in and managing traffic control to supporting event safety and helping behind the scenes, these supporters were vital to creating a seamless and welcoming experience.

This year’s Yellow Springs Street Fair celebrated community in very intentional ways, including a meaningful partnership with Yellow Springs Schools and their PTO and athletics programs, who served as our official shuttle providers and managed key parking areas. In collaboration with Greenon High School, the use of school buses and bus drivers not only provided practical transportation but also symbolized our collective investment in youth, education, and local pride. The presence of students, athletes, and school support teams underscored the festival’s deeper theme; coming together to support one another and showcase the vibrant connections that make Yellow Springs thrive.

The energy throughout the day was uplifting and full of joy. The fair's atmosphere was incredibly fun and undeniably positive. I already can’t wait for October’s event!

While the Chamber does not manage privately operated lots and entertainment setups around town, it recognizes the value these areas bring to the Street Fair as a whole. Every corner of the village contributed to the day’s lively and collaborative atmosphere.

As the summer edition winds down, plans are already underway for the next Street Fair, set to return on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Registration for vendors and participants will open on July 1, with even more emphasis on connection, interaction, and community pride.
