A Street Fair Thank You to the Yellow Springs Community

“Dear Beloved Community;

As the streets return to their familiar pace and the last festival tents have been packed away, I want to take a moment to say something simple but important: thank you.

The June 2026 Yellow Springs Street Fair was once again a remarkable celebration of community, creativity, and connection. While visitors see the music, food, shopping, and entertainment, what they may not see is the collective effort behind it all.

This year, an estimated 30,000 people made their way to Yellow Springs to experience what makes this community so special. They explored 170 vendor booths featuring everything from handcrafted artwork and unique products to local services and community organizations. They enjoyed food from 28 vendors, listened to 16 entertainers performing throughout downtown, connected with our five Preferred Information Partners, and joined us for the Ohio Magazine Best Hometown Community Celebration. Private property owners once again opened their lots and spaces to accommodate additional vendors, helping create an even more vibrant festival experience. They were also intentionally directed to our local businesses through the launch of the Only Local Guide.

Welcoming that many people into a village of our size is no small feat.

Yet year after year, our businesses, residents, volunteers, community organizations, and local leaders demonstrate why Yellow Springs continues to stand apart. Visitors appreciate our colorful storefronts, eclectic character, and creative spirit, but what they remember most is how they are welcomed. They leave with a glimpse of something that cannot be manufactured or replicated: a community that genuinely cares.

The Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce leads with purpose to support business success, strengthen the community, and shape and amplify Yellow Springs as a vibrant destination. Street Fair remains one of the most visible examples of that mission in action.

This year also marked an important milestone as we continued to build upon the updated Street Fair layout. By reducing vendor congestion along Xenia Avenue, improving visibility and accessibility for businesses, and incorporating Walnut Street into the festival footprint, we have created a more comfortable and engaging experience for visitors, vendors, business owners, and residents alike. We remain committed to listening, learning, and making thoughtful improvements that benefit the entire community.

Street Fair continues to serve as both an anticipated YS tradition and an important economic engine. The festival supports local businesses, creates opportunities for entrepreneurs and artists, generates activity throughout Greene County, and helps provide resources that allow the Chamber to invest in programs and initiatives throughout the year.

My deepest gratitude also goes to every department within the Village of Yellow Springs. From planning and logistics to public safety, public works, and countless behind-the-scenes efforts, your partnership is essential. Thank you as well to our sponsors, festival partners, volunteers, property owners, entertainers, vendors, and everyone who contributed their time, talent, and energy.

I would also like to recognize Melissa Herzog, the YS Chamber Events Coordinator, for her dedication to the Street Fair and the community it serves. Melissa brings a deep appreciation for the culture of Yellow Springs and a commitment to ensuring the festival remains safe, successful, thoughtful, and engaging for all. Her hard work and attention to detail play a visible and significant role in bringing this event to life.

Communities evolve. Trends change. Challenges emerge. Through it all, one thing remains constant: the strength of Yellow Springs has always been its people.

We often describe the Street Fair as Yellow Springs’ largest open house…a chance to welcome the world into our community twice each year. Thank you for sharing your village with such generosity and grace, and for helping this lively and important tradition continue to thrive.

Most of all, thank you for making Yellow Springs come alive once again.

With extreme gratitude,

Phillip O’Rourke
